There are five established stages of team creation and development:
Forming – The group comes together for the first time.
Storming – Team members compete and jostle for position at work, authority and acceptance of their ideas.
Norming – Working relationships are established and the team begins to work towards its objectives.
Performing – The team becomes successful, with stable relationships, efficient processes and members working in sync with each other. The most successful teams are often close-knit social groups by this stage.
Transforming – Team members start to move off in different directions, with the team either winding down at the end of a project or simply evolving over time.
If you follow these steps and bear in mind the principals of team management, effective communication and the addition of new staff, you will be able to achieve team success!
